Jeux Olympiques

As we started the week off with a heat wave, Robins certainly took full advantage of the Summer sun. This week in Forest school we used a whittling knife to carve sticks, carefully using the advice we had learnt about knife safety, showing excellent control.

Look at our concentration!

We also continued with our Number bonds to 10 using manipulatives such as Numicon to support our learning.

This week in Dear Zoo they sent us a Giraffe! Of course he was too tall, so we sent him back! Look at our amazing writing, we can't wait to write the next part of the story, look out for it in our next blog! I wonder which animal they will send us next?

In Pantomimus this week we went on a Pirate adventure, travelling across the island searching for the treasure! Along the way we needed to get off our ship and move through the water, pass through the jungle, the waterfall and search until we found the hidden treasure! There were many magical sounds along the way!

This week we were delighted to be joined by another Mystery reader! As the Robins children began their weekly drum roll, they were squealing with delight as Mrs Bell brought our Mystery reader into the room. The moment came for them to find out who the Myster Reader was........and who was it.......It was Freya's Dad! Robins were delighted to sit back and listen to the story of the Detective Dog! Freya' Dad told us that he was feeling a bit nervous before he came in but he didn't show at all and the children loved hearing not just one but two stories!

They also all enjoying telling him their names and they were delighted to inform him that they could in fact read themselves!! It was such a lovely way to end our Wednesday, there was definitely a room full of smiles!

Huge thank you to everyone who has given their time to be a Mystery Reader throughout the year - we have three more 'slots' to go and they have all be filled! You have all been absolutely amazing and it would not have been the success that it has been without your support.

Then on Friday, the day had finally arrived and we were ready - ready for Les Jeux Olympiques!

The winners of the 'design a mascot' were presented with their mascots, they were so brilliant they looked just like the original designs!

In houses, Anvil, Arlington and Watermill participateqd in a flag waving ceremonial parade in the hall. The Sports Captain's gave a motivational speech before bessing the event and lighting the 'Olympic flame'.

Next we rotated around three activities - visiting a French cafe, a medal making / fact finding workshop and finally taking part in le Tour de Shefford for EYFS/ KS1 or Petanque for KS2.

The winners, Watermill, were presented with the 'yellow jersey' and a trophy.

It was not just Robins who thoroughly enjoyed the morning, everyone did, all pupils throughout the school, all the staff and even some past pupils - yes, my Joseph came along to support too and he had a whale of a time.

Huge thank you to Madame Wilson for organising such an amazing event.

Have a wonderful weekend - weather looks good!

See you all next week.
