Term 5 begins
Well hello again.
We are back.
Term 5 - here we come!
....and what better way to start than with a celebration, yes, it was St. George's Day - and we have collected all 4 flags now.
Despite being a really short week, we certainly packed it all in. Phonics, handwriting, reading, Talk 4 Writing, Maths, St. George's Day, Worship, French, PE and of course a little bit of 'free flow'.
This term, our Talk 4 Writing story is the Gingerbread Man (the title is part of the key vocabulary that we will be learning to spell, for those of you who like to have a go of it at home too!). We were introduced to the story and enjoyed the repetition, "Run, run as fast as you can, you can't catch me I'm the Gingerbread man". We used props and sequencing cards to help us retell the story and several of us visited the writing table to draw, write, label, read and retell the story. We will be learnng this story throughout the whole of Term 5.
In Maths we were identifying when a double was being shown and explaining why. For example - are the images below showing doubles or not doubles?

We then went on to use objects to make doubles patterns
On Thursday after our French lesson with Mrs Chrimes, we headed up onto the track to do a few laps on our balance bikes.
We finished our week off with some Friday Phonics Fun - we started off by writing down our 'tricky' words - but these days they don't seem 'tricky' anymore, they are just "so easy", and then we completed a cvc word search - you could almost hear a pin drop it was so intense - if I were you I would consider getting some word search books as stocking fillers (am I really talking about Christmas in April)....they were a huge hit today.
Forest school
Every Monday starting from Monday 28th April Robins will be taking part in Forest school, this is a great learning opportunity but will need the appropriate clothing to be able to take part so please ensure your child brings in the following items in a separate bag;
A long sleeved top (even if it is warmer weather they will need a long sleeved top due to the area that we are exploring)
Trouser- Either leggings or joggers
Waterproof jacket as we never know what the weather is going to be like
Wellies- please ensure these are in school each week and the correct size
A spare pair of socks as it is likely their socks will get wet/dirty
Please ensure that these clothes are clothes that you don't mind getting dirty as they definitely will! Each week we will return them to you on the Monday and they will need to be washed and brought back to school the following Monday.
Children need to wear their school uniform to school and we will get them changed into their Forest school clothes after lunch. Let's get exploring!
Have a great weekend, see you all on Monday - ready for our first full week of the term.
