Term 6- Week 3
Summer has certainly arrived!
The sun certainly had it's hat on this week and so did we we! As we enjoyed the sun safely, ensuring we had sun cream and hats on, we were ready to take on the increasingly warm week ahead, with our Daily Mile this week at times needing to be more of a power walk rather than a walk or jog!
We started our week delving into our Maths, focusing this week on ordinality, considering where numbers 1-10 are in relation to each other and beginning by ordering towers, using our reasoning skills and thinking about one more and one less than.....
As we continued to deepen our understanding of ordinality, Robins compared the numbers and created our very own number line, thinking about which number came next and why...
" 5 comes next, it is one more than 4"
"9, it's one more than 8"
In Forest School this week Robins were taken into the mystical world of fairies as all around our Forest School this there were little fairies hiding for us to find....could we find them all?
Some of the fairies were however a little bit more tricky to find.......can you spot the fairy?
As we entered into the fairies forest, they had also built furniture and play equipment such as a swing set! Robins loved creating storylines around the fairies and even gave one of them a magic wand!
We even had a go at making our own fairies, for there can never ben enough fairies in the forest!
In RE this week, we discussed the Creation story and listened to the song 'A wonderful world' by Louis Armstrong. Whilst listening to it, Mrs Brown showed Robins pictures of God's creations, from nature to humans and animals and afterwards we discussed the different pictures and which were our favourite ones. Robins loved discussing whether God did indeed create the world and it created a lovely discussion, leading to some of Robins creating their own pictures of what they believe are 'wonderful things' and we think they're really wonderful too!......
By Wednesday, the heat was starting to get to us and we were flagging! Still, we pressed on with our learning, starting promptly at 8.50, straight into handwriting, sentence writing, register, ordering lunches, days of the week, months of the year, maths, worship, daily WALK - a run was just a stretch too far, phonics, story writing and all of this before lunch! That allowed us to take things a little easier and slower in the afternoons when the tempertaures were at their highest - we still had Pantomimus, Mystery Reader and French but the rest of our afternoons were a lot more relaxed.
There seemed to be only one way to cool ourselves off - get the paddling pool out and.......chill!
Have a fantastic weekend - hope to see some of you at the Chaddleworth Fete tomorrow!
