Term 5 Week 6
Somehow, we have reached the final week of term and what a wonderful week it has been in Owls Class
This week on Forest School, the children worked together to build dens and swings using ropes, tarpaulin and natural materials found around the area.
As perseverance has been our Christian value this term, it was lovely to see the children demonstrating this so clearly while problem solving, testing out different ideas and not giving up when things became challenging.
The children also enjoyed creating miniature dens using sticks, leaves and logs, using their imagination and creativity to design smaller shelters.
It was wonderful to see them working together as a team, taking risks safely and enjoying the outdoors together.
On No Pens Day Wednesday
In English, we transformed the classroom into a courtroom and put Mr Toad on trial as part of our work on The Wind in the Willows.
The children took on the roles of the jury, prosecutor and defendant and used formal language to debate whether Mr Toad should be punished for his behaviour.
This was a fantastic way to develop the children’s oracy skills and help them become more confident using the language and vocabulary needed for writing a balanced argument.
In Maths, the children used interactive fraction games on the Topmarks website to consolidate their understanding of fractions in a fun and engaging way.
The children practised finding equivalent fractions, identifying fractions of amounts and applying their knowledge through a range of interactive challenges.
It was lovely to see the children so focused and enthusiastic as they developed their confidence and fluency in fractions.
In Science, the children became scientists as they worked together to create a life size model of the digestive system. This practical activity helped the children to understand the journey food takes through the human body and sparked lots of thoughtful discussion and curiosity.
It has been a wonderful term in Owls Class and I am incredibly proud of all the children for their hard work, resilience and positive attitude throughout this term.
I hope you all have a restful and enjoyable half term break
