We have certainly lived life in all its fullness this week! Forest School on Monday was great fun. The children enjoyed balancing, building dens and fishing with sticks. It was lovely to see so much teamwork going on. From helping each other to balance to coming up with solutions for pegging down the den. Much fun was had by all!

In science the children enjoyed using their sense of touch to guess what an object was if they couldn't see it. The children are beginning to understand how useful our senses are and if we can't use one of our senses, we can use another one!

In gymnastics the children learnt how to jump over the bench from side to side and then finish with a forward roll. We have some super gymnasts in our class. It was also great to see everybody having a go as doing a forward roll off the bench was not easy!

In maths we have been learning about tens and ones. We started by looking at how ten "ones" is the same as one "ten". We then looked at how many tens and ones were in a number and what each digit represented. We partitioned our numbers into "tens" and "ones". For example 35 has 3 tens, and 5 ones. The 3 represents 30 and the 5 represents 5. We then looked at how we could partition our numbers further. For example, 74. This number can be partitioned into 70 + 4. It can also be partitioned into 60 + 14 or 50 + 24. This was a trickier concept! We had a go at drawing the tens and ones for a number and then looking at how we could split the tens and ones into two groups. You could try this at home!

As we reached the end of our week, we couldn't believe we had also almost reached the end of November! With December drawing closer, it could only mean one thing.....it was time for us to go full steam ahead with our rehearsals and this Friday we certainly did that!

Mrs Brown told us that today the routine was going to be different to our normal Friday and it certainly was, from Nativity rehearsals to then even going on a welly walk, we certainly packed a lot in for our last day of the week! Little Donkey started us off down the dusty road and by break time we were all singing along to the Nativity songs, remembering even the trickier parts that go REALLY HIGH! We were certainly ready for breaktime and when it arrived, we couldn't believe our eyes.....what was that still as a statue in the bushes by our playground? It had a spikey back....pointy nose and 4 little feet! As we all bent down we could even see it's little heart beating fast as it probably wondered who all these eyes belonged to!

It was of course a Hedgehog and was suitably called Oreo!

The day in Kingfishers seemed to fly by and before we knew it we were getting ready for our welly walk! We couldn't wait to proudly go and place our Christmas tree decorations on the village tree, walking side by side we talked about our own experiences of Christmas, from whether our Christmas trees were up yet to what we wanted for Christmas!

As we turned the corner the magical tree came into sight and we all took a moment to enjoy looking at the decorations that already been placed on the tree by our fellow friends...

It was then our turn! As we all walked towards the tree, proudly admiring our decorations we also admired our friends "I love the glitter on yours", "I love that snowman!", there was a true sense of community felt by us all.

We even showed compassion by picking up any decorations that may have come off the tree and placing them carefully back on, well done Kingfishers what superb roles you are!

And with our cheesiest grins "Merry Christmas everyone!"....wow what a fantastic start to the festive season!

We can however never forget our weekly show and tell sessions and although this week we had only limited time we didn't let that stop us!

From wonderful feathers that came from red kits, crows, pigeons and even an African goose, to a beautiful musical box from Poland that played a song called 'Love song' and then finishing our session off for today was a very cool Hot Wheels watch that not only told the time, no there was so much more to this watch....it even projected a car onto the wall!

What a wonderful week we've had and a magical start to the festive season! Have a lovely weekend and we look forward to seeing Kingfishers next week!
