In Kingfishers this week we have been very busy rehearsing for our Nativity. As well as all the singing and acting we have been doing, we have still had time for lots of other fun activities!
In maths this week the children have continued to work hard developing their number of place value. We have looked at one more and one less than a number, thinking about how the ones change. Sometimes the tens might also need to change!
In gymnastics, the children have continued developing their skills of balancing, moving along a bench and thinking about how they land when they jump off the end of a bench.
On Tuesday the children all made Christingles. The children learnt about what each part represented. They then took their Christingles to our Christingle Service that we had on Wednesday. The sweets were rather tempting for the children but they were all very sensible when the candles were lit.
In science, the children continued to think about our senses. We braved the weather and went outside to see what we could see, hear, touch and smell. We didn't taste anything but we talked about how the children would have had their snack outside so they would have tasted something then. We also thought about how what we might see and hear now is going to be different from what we might see and hear in the spring or summer. In the summer we would hear lots of birds and there would be lots of leaves on the trees and flowers growing.
As we reached the end of the week we decided to try something new this week in Kingfishers to help us get our bodies and minds warmed up and ready for our morning learning! We were all very excited to see what Mrs Brown had in mind for us this morning and when she mentioned the name 'Danny Go!', it brought us right back to times in Robins when we used to warm ourselves up in the mornings!
As we all stood up and got ready, the Ice King music came on and we were off...tip toe tip toe tip toe tip toe tip toe jump to the left.....what a way to start the day!
This Friday we have been busy rehearsing for our upcoming Nativity and even got the chance to try on our costumes for the very first time! With only a few of our headdresses slipping down and tinsel feeling a bit tickly, we managed to do two full run throughs and between us..... they were amazing!...but of course there are no preview pictures of the Nativity, you'll have to wait until next week to see it for yourself!
With our week drawing to an end, our Friday wouldn't be the same without Show and Tell, and this week certainly didn't disappoint.
First up with had the magnificent Bun Bun the Bunny, a beautiful paper mache rabbit, that had been lovingly made at her Nanny's! Some fun facts about Bun Bun is that she is able to run very fast and her favourite food is carrot flavoured custard pies!
Next we were mesmerized by the achievements of one of our Kingfishers who has achieved all the way up to stage 8 in Gymnastics! We were shown certificates for both stage 7 and 8 and our Kingfishers proudly showed us the badges to go with both of these stages, explaining that to achieve them she had to go to a big hall and perform forward rolls, balance along beams and do some other moves along a bar in front of lots of people! Wow what an achievement!
We had reached our third and final show and tell for Friday and it certainly didn't disappoint....was it a bird? was it a plane? No...it was a brand new Monster truck! This brand new monster truck was so new that its owner is planning on taking special care of it and whenever it gets muddy he will personally make sure he cleans it....now that's quality service!
Wow, what another great week for Kingfishers! Next week we will be full steam ahead for our Nativity performances and can't wait to end the week by going to the pantomime together, what a perfect way to finish such a festive week! Have a wonderful weekend Kingfishers!
