14th February

Happy Valentine’s Day!! What an incredible week. Thank you to all the parents that were able to come and meet me to talk about your child’s learning.
On Tuesday, we enjoyed a worship about internet safety and then we were able to meet in our houses to create posters and messages about how to keep safe on the internet. In our computing lesson, we were able to put together our stop motion animations by creating characters and backgrounds. Once these were ready, we used the IPad to take the photographs we needed to make a mini film.
In Maths we looked at effective strategies to multiply and began to look at scaling problems. Please continue to support with learning times tables at home. In English we planned and wrote our finding tales with suspense. I am immensely proud of all the children because they did a fantastic job using our toolkits to write incredible stories. Below are some snippets. The purple pen is the children self-editing their work.
Geography was all about deforestation and how it could affect our planet. The children were very interested in the topic and we had lots of discussion about the positive and negative impacts cutting down trees can have. In PE, we put all our learning about animal movement, weather movement, flow of sequences and speed changes into practice and performed our dances in pairs. In Art, we used the grid method to draw realistic animals from the rainforest. The grid helped us to map out the outline and important details and then we used pastels to create layers of fur or details.
In Science, to end our ‘Rocks’ unit, we made sticky tree resin and ‘trapped’ insects inside to see what an amber fossil would look like. The children had great fun creating them and then breaking the insects back out.
What a term! Have a fantastic holiday.
