It’s a been a very wet week, let’s hope for some sunshine this weekend!!

In English this week we have focused on joining independent clauses using co-ordinating conjunctions. Ask your children if they can remember the FANBOYS conjunctions. We have also used these conjunctions to make compound subjects, where more than one noun is the subject. Finally we have started to analyse non-chronological reports, making sure we found all the important features. For our spellings we tried to create our own mnemonics to help us remember how to spell certain words.

In Maths we are still powering through with rounding. We have found it tricky this week but will keep practicing. To help us we used the rhyme – “0 to 4 hit the floor, 5 to 9 climb the vine” and number lines to see where the number is positioned. Thank you for all your efforts with the Maths homework – remember it is two pages due in every Wednesday.

We left the Stone Age in History and have joined the Bronze Age. Our focus was the changes between the two ages and the consequences (positive or negative) of these changes. The children enjoyed lots of discussions about what the consequences could be. In Science we are starting to look at the digestive system and what organs are part of it. Using our enquiry approach of research, the children used the IPADs again to explore the system and the jobs the organs have.

Finally, on Friday afternoon, some of the children took part in a rugby tournament. They showed great team spirit. Well done everybody.

Have a great weekend.
