22nd November
Another week closer to Christmas!
Firstly, thank you to everybody who came and supported the winter fete.
This week has been all about the children showing us what they can do in writing, reading, spelling and Maths. They have worked incredibly hard and shown great perseverance and determination to show us exactly what they have learnt.
In English this week we have written our letters from Om to the boy in Stone Age boy telling him what happened after he disappeared. The children also completed their double page spread about the Stone Age. They needed to research using their History books, non-fiction books and the IPads and make lots of notes. These were then turned into double page spreads. We also completed our cold write where the children were asked to write a portal story. This writing will be used to see what they need to learn about portal stories over the next few weeks.
In Maths, we have got stuck into learning about the column method for adding and subtracting with exchange. The children have become very good at using the methods and drawing pictures to support themselves. As always thank you for helping your children to complete their Maths homework ready for every Wednesday.
In DT this week we started to think about design briefs for products and discussed who the users of our Christmas decoration would be, what the purpose of it is and what we are going to ensure it will have. Next week we are going to design what the decoration will look like. In Geography we explored atlases, looked at their features and what information they give us.
Next week we are looking forward to making Christmas tree decorations and placing them on the village tree.
Have a lovely weekend.
