What a busy week!

In English, we completed all our learning about explanation texts and wrote our own independently. Some of the ideas about helpful machines were very good and the children were amazing at explaining how they worked. In Maths, we have continued to learn about the different times tables – our focus this week was the 7x, 11x and 12x. We were incredible at using our known times tables to help us answer questions and are beginning to prove that the answer is correct by drawing and writing calculations.

In computing, we explored stop animation. The children used playdough to make characters and then, using the IPads, made them appear to move quickly across the table or floor. We soon found out that we needed the IPad in the same position every time or the animation did not work.

In Science, our enquiry question was ‘What is soil made from?’ To find the answer we set up an investigation, made predictions and observed what had happened. We found out that the soil contained rocks, sand, leaves and air.

In Art our goal is to paint a rainforest picture so today we explored tones and shades of green. The children added little bits of yellow or blue paint at a time to see what happened. After that, we tried to make them lighter and darker with black or white paint. Some of the children discovered that too much black paint can ruin the colour.

We are very excited about next week’s residential. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Have a great weekend.
