28th February

The first week back has been a busy one! And we have a great term to look forward to including team football and rugby matches after school, chocolate making as well as lots of other learning.
In English this week, we started to explore persuasive adverts. Our text was about saving bees and the children were very passionate about helping them. We focused on the features of the text and wrote some introductions to tell our reader some basic facts about the problem. The children then used rhetorical questions and repetition to draw their reader in.
In Maths, we have been multiplying a 3-digit number by a 1-digit number. We used counters, drawing and team work to help us to remember the method. It was tricky because it also involved x10 and x100 and exchanging. The children worked really well together to help solve the questions.
Science was all about investigating friction this week! We wanted to find out which surface would allow our object to move the furthest. The children made their predictions, set up the investigation, worked together and recorded their results. After all of that, we discussed our results and recorded a conclusion. We found out that the smoothest surface allowed the object to travel the furthest because there was less friction. In Computing, we were practising our typing skills and the children used a purple mash game to see how quick they could type certain letters. In History, we thought about what history is. We discussed it and explored different civilisations and when they were alive. We have started our final piece of art about the rainforest! All the children are trying to replicate an Abel Rodriquez painting. It was soooo big I think we might need more than one lesson.
Have a great weekend!
