28th March

What a great start to the week! Well done to everybody who ran in the cross country on Tuesday – I was very impressed and super proud.
In English, we have continued building our toolkit for describing a setting. This week we focused on adverbials of place and pre and post modifiers to help our reader visualise their setting. They came up with some fantastic ideas. Maths was all about showing off this week. The children were very resilient and tried their absolute best to show what they could do. Today we started to investigate and explore equivalent fractions. We were able to use a fraction wall and our times tables knowledge to solve some of the questions.
In Science, we explored the use of magnets. We discovered that there are magnets in lots of the electronic devices at home such as televisions and phones. Then we found out about maglev trains. We were fascinated by the fact that they float above the track and could travel really fast! The children had some great discussions.
In design and technology, the children have chosen a chocolate bar name and decided on their final ingredients. We are ready to create wrappers and make the chocolate bars next week. We are all very excited! In RE, our focus was holy week and what happens on the different days. The children were horrified by the way Judas treated Jesus. In computing, we researched Maya beliefs and put our new knowledge into a PowerPoint. Everyone had to add animations and transitions into their slide show. PSHE was talking about disappointment and how we can deal with it. The children had some very encouraging advice if something doesn't work out the way you want.
Next week we are looking forward to the church Easter Service and our chocolate bar making day on Wednesday at Chaddleworth.
Have a great weekend and enjoy the sunshine.
