2nd May

What a lovely sunny week!
We have been very busy. On Tuesday, we met Lottie, who works with the Corn Exchange. She is helping us improve our drama skills, so we can perform some scenes from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in a few weeks time. The children have now been given parts and we can start learning lines and stage movement next week.
In English, we have started to build our toolkit for newspaper report writing. We looked at writing eye-catching headlines, interesting introductions to catch the readers interest and began to look at the main body. In Maths, we are ploughing on with decimals. We used place value charts to represent numbers and to help us divide by 10. We also placed decimals on a number line.
Science this week was about checking our plants and comparing the results so far. Most of the plants have not started to show yet but the group with no soil had started to germinate. We all drew them and discussed why we thought the plant that had all the requirements was quite tall and vibrant but the cup with no soil had only grown a little and was quite dull.
In Geography, we used maps of the UK to find out about farming and why different farming happens in different parts of the country.
In DT, we learnt what warping up and wefting is. All the children warped up their looms and then used strips of paper to create the weft by weaving in and out of the warp. The practice looms look amazing.
Have a great weekend.
