What a lovely week!

We have been very busy this week. In English, we explored missing person’s reports – looking at the features and then focusing on formal vocabulary and the use of modal verbs. Today, we wrote some fantastic reports about one of the characters from our class novel: Letters from the Lighthouse by Emma Carroll. In Maths, we have been adding all week. Our focus was to master the column method and then add decimals, solve problems and find missing digits in questions too. For Music this week, we played the note ‘B’ and had great fun composing our own tunes with 4 beats per bar. In History, we put ourselves in the shoes of evacuee children. We wrote letters home as if we were sent away during the war. In Science, we used all our knowledge of the mammal and bird life cycles to compare them. In Computing, we talked about communication online – exploring how to keep safe. In RE, we learnt about ‘Dharma’ (following the right path and being dutiful.) We looked at a Hindu story, thought about the 5 daily duties in Hinduism and about our duties in our lives. For PE, we improved our quick turning and dribbling in football and balancing in gymnastics. This week in art, we looked at Georgia O'Keeffe's still life pictures, featuring fruits, vegetables and leaves. We had a go at using pastels to recreate one of her designs in our art books, working on blending the colours to show light and shadow.

Finally, well done to the year 6 children who wrote and presented their house captain speeches today. You were amazing and we are very proud of you.
