1st March
This week has flown by!
Red Kites have shown great responsibility this week as they have been taking care to do their jobs in school. House Captains have helped the PTFA run the children's votes for ideas for The Summer Fayre. Art Leaders have shared The Art Competition of designing a book cover for World Book Day and Reading Champions have encouraged children to remind their parents to send pictures of themselves reading in their favourite or creative place ahead of this year's 'Read your way' World Book Day Theme.
HOLES By Louis Sachar
It's been lovely hearing parents talk about not just their child's enjoyment and engagement with our class text but their own fond memories of this gripping novel! We have worked on comprehension through drama taking on roles and acting out scenes from the text. In writing, we have been working on choice and use of language to describe the setting of Camp Green Lake before we continue writing a chapter in the same style as the author. Editing has been a main focus of our writing process including reading our work aloud to each other, giving feedback to each other and sharing our successes. It has been wonderful sharing these pieces of work, a lot of effort has been put in! Well done Red Kites!
Yoga
Red Kites did really well in their yoga session this week, practicing poses that we learnt last week and moving our bodies in time with our breathing and ending with a very relaxing shavasana - time to reflect and be mindful. I was amazed at how well the children connected with this part of the yoga lesson and it was lovely to hear a member of the class share that they are going to do some yoga at the weekend too because they have enjoyed it so much!
Thank you to the parents who joined us to share information and take questions about The Manor Adventure Residential next year.
Congratulations to year 6's who have been allocated their places at secondary school.
Have a great weekend and see you on Monday.
