Another fantastic week!
We completed our non-chronological report this week. First, we designed our own mythical creature then we planned words and phrases we wanted to use in our report. After our careful planning, we wrote the most amazing reports; making sure we included our 3 main tools. We were so impressed with the efforts of all the children. Next up is recount letters. In Maths this week, we have been breaking problems apart and asking: What do we know? What is the question asking? What is the whole? What are the parts? Which operation do we need to use? Can we draw something to help us? Next week, we are moving on to multiplication and division, but ensuring we continue to carefully read and break apart problems too.
In Science, we have started our 'Living Things and their Habitats' unit. Our focus this week was observable characteristics. We discovered what these were and what they were useful for. In History, we discussed excavations and what archaeologists do. We recapped timelines and started to explore what early Greece was like. We found it interesting that it was a lot like the Paleolithic era in Britain. In Computing, we put our planning from last week to the test and began creating quizzes all about Greece. We needed pictures, interesting questions, title pages and feedback pages. In Art, we have started our final piece - a two point view of the Parthenon. We have made a very good start. In PE, we had our best football lesson yet; all the skills we have been taught came together in mini matches and the children had so much fun. In RE, we discussed how Jesus' sacrifice has impacted the lives of Christians and what they do because of his sacrifices.
And finally...
Over the past couple of weeks, Red kites have been hard at work putting together a seasonal collage to enter into a competition at Saturday's ploughing match. The theme of our collaborative piece is "Conker", inspired by the Robert McFarland poem and the accompanying illustration by Jackie Morris in the book The Lost Words.
Please come along to the ploughing match at Sutton Estates this Saturday to see our entry in person!
Have a great weekend.
