We have continued with our English learning; making sure we used figurative language as part of our setting descriptions. Next term we will plan and write our own descriptions. We also trialled a new way of editing our work: book on book. This is where pairs of children read one book at a time, but the reader has to be the child who did not write it. This way the writer can hear any mistakes and they can discuss anything that needs changing. In Maths, our work with common denominators continues. This week we were adding mixed numbers, which involved converting into improper fractions. After half term we will be subtracting fractions. We also concluded our learning about the major events during Ancient Greek times. This week was all about Alexander the Great and why he was known as ‘The Great’. After Christmas, we will research and write a double page spread on how the Ancient Greeks lived: writing about clothes, food, religion etc. For our last PE session with Mr Mandry we took part in indoor caving and team building. Next term Red Kites will have Forest School on Monday – please bring warm, waterproof clothing, it might get cold and muddy in our sessions, and our second PE slot will be WEDNESDAY afternoon, so please wear PE kit on Wednesday.

Of course we have also been very Christmassy this week. On Wednesday, we took part in our church service followed by a delicious lunch and then today was the pantomime (which the children loved!) and a visit from Santa Tom. We have also completed French Christmas word searches and made some fab Christmas cards.

Thank you for all your cards and gifts. We really appreciate them.

Have a fantastic Christmas and New Year.
