What a last week!
This week we started our unit of letter recounts in English. We explored the different text features and then started to practice using some of the language features by writing paragraphs from a recount letter. Our tools for this week were time adverbials, modal verbs and relative clauses. In Maths, we recapped what multiples, common multiples and factors are. The children had lots of discussions and needed to do lots of proving on whiteboards.
In RE, we summarised our unit question: What do Christians believe about Jesus’ death? We recapped all of our previous learning and discussed what we thought the answer was before writing a paragraph to answer the question. Next term, we will be exploring rites of passage.
In Science, we focused on how to group animals and discovered that a classification key is a good tool for the job. The children had to apply their knowledge of observable characteristics to help them create their own classification key.
In PE, we finished our football unit. The children displayed all the skills that Coach Tom had taught them across the term. Next up Rugby and ‘Outdoor Learning’ led by James from Park House (still on Monday and Thursday). Our art work is nearly complete; we just need to add a few finishing touches. In PSHE, we spoke about our leadership roles and the jobs they felt the role involved. There were lots of discussions and then the teams wrote down a list of jobs that they feel they would need to do to fulfil their roles.
We are looking forward to our Greek day on Friday 7th November. Please come and see us if you have any queries. And finally.... if you have lost a teddy bear shaped earring, I have it safe and sound.
Have a great half term!
