Another incredible week!

All of our hard work as paid off and today we read our speeches to the whole school to try and persuade them to vote for us as leaders. We were a little nervous, but did a fantastic job! Myself and Mrs Chrimes are extremely proud of all the children and know they will be amazing in whatever role they are given.

In English, we continued to work on building single clause sentences and then moved on to multi-clause sentences using co-ordinating conjunctions. We also thought about what we would say to Robins as a welcome. We wrote some brilliant speeches ready for our harvest service at the church on Wednesday. Now we have finished our PVPG learning, we are moving on to learning about non-chronological reports with a Harry Potter theme. In Reading, our focus has been to expand on answers and try and use the text to support them. We have explored lots of extracts from Roald Dahl books over the least two weeks.

In Maths at the beginning of the week, we were learning about negative numbers; ordering and comparing them. Then we moved on to recalling and practising mental maths strategies to help us be more efficient mathematicians.

In Science, we conducted our first investigation of the year; we were trying to find out which material was the best thermal insulator for ice. After carefully measuring and observing, we found that the thick woven fabric was the best thermal insulator and foil and cling film were the worst. Finally, we talked about the science behind the results and worked together to write a conclusion.

In Geography, we were able to find physical features of the South of Greece on a map and pick out general information about the terrain and the climate. Afterwards, we worked together to compare that region to the South-East of England. We also explored the population in this region of Greece and compared it to the population of our region.

In Art, we learned how to create a sketch using two-point perspective. We needed to use a lot of perseverance because it was tricky. Next week, we will start our final piece.

And finally in PE, Coach Tom helped us to perfect our dribbling skills and in Mondays PE we worked on balancing, strengthening and centre of gravity.

Have a great weekend.
