We have crammed a lot into our four-day week!

In English, we have finished writing our recount letters. In our lessons this week, we practiced concluding letters and then created thorough plans to help us write a detailed, exciting and informative letter. Everybody worked hard to include our three main tools, but also previous tools we have learnt about. Next week, we will start our unit of story writing. In Maths, we have been focusing on factors and common factors. It is really important that the children know all their times tables for this, so please keep practicing them at home. Yesterday was all about divisibility and the rules we can use to help us.

In Science, we are still classifying and grouping, but this time we used a classification key to identify different plants. As part of our History we focused on Early Greece and the first advanced civilisation in Europe; the Minoans! The children explored rites and passage for Christians in RE. We discussed baptism and what it was. Next week, we are going to the church to learn more about baptism with Rev. Mike. For PE, we started Tag Rugby. It was all about running into space and defending. The children had a great time.

And today….. was our Greek Day. We started by exploring Greek pottery and then created our own 2D version of Greek amphorae. We used terracotta coloured paper as the pot and then black paper to create different Hellenistic designs. After, we explored the Greek alphabet and worked hard to write our names, which was not as easy as you would think! Later on, we read a traditional Greek myth and then compared it to its film version. They were very different. Finally, we tried some traditional Greek food. Everyone looked fantastic and the children had an amazing day! Thank you for your efforts.

Have a great weekend.
