TERM 1 WEEK 6

17 Oct 25

Thank you all so much for your time this week during the parent teacher meetings. These are such important events, we love sharing all the fantastic learning that your child has been engaging in and how well they have settled into their new routines, so again, thank you, your support is very much appreciated.

Right, let us dive straight in to this week.......starting with this week's fine motor activity, giving all those little hand muscles a good warm up first thing in the morning.

This week, we really did concentrate on using our mark making, use of small tools and developing our pencil grip in all areas of our learning, not just in a focus adult led activity but also in our 'free flow' where we choose an activity that we are interested in. Take a look at some of our activities.

In "Expressive arts and design" we learnt about the artist Yves Klein. We learnt that he created his own special blue colour. We then had a go at mixing our own special colour and if we could think of one, we gave it a name. For example, "Chalk Purple..." and "Greeny Grass". We are deepening our understanding of colour mixing and holding a paintbrush correctly.

In PSHE the lesson focus was "Our Rights". We talked about our school values and how important it is to share things with our friends when we are playing with them. We also talked about how it is not ok to just take something from somebody without asking. They enjoyed the game "Who took the honey pot" which was a game about taking something from a sleeping bear!

Also, this week, we had a scheduled visit from the EYFS / Phonics Advisor for West Berks. The great news is that she was really pleased with how Phonics is being taught in our school and was delighted with the learning behavious of all our Robins children - we have to say we are too!

You all now have your 'speedy sound keyring', reading book and reading record. We are looking forward to taking you on the first steps of your reading journey - you will be readers for life and it all starts here - that's quite a big thing to say!

And finally, what better way to end our week that with a little bit of relaxing Yoga - if you have not yet heard of Cosmic Yoga then I suggest you search it - Cosmic Yoga - Squish the Fish - give it a go and home- its like some sort of magic and the children absolutely love it.

Just before we sign off for the weekend, a quick reminder that next week is only four days (INSET on Friday).

Have a great weekend and see you all on Monday.
