TERM 5 WEEK 2
Good afternoon!
This week was a 'slightly' quieter week - the weather was amazing so we made sure we took full advantage and had lots of outdoor learning. I wish I could say that the weather does not really make that much of a difference and that no matter what the weather, we head outside - which we do, however when the sun is shinning it just makes it all the more pleasant and it does not feel like we are deep in learning at all - just enjoying the moment!
We started the week off in the usual way with another entertaining Show and Tell and another very exciting Mystery Reader.
Also this week we have really stepped up our reading, it is so important that we read both in school and at home as often as we can. I don't really want to be typing this next sentence....here it goes.....it won't be long before the EYFS will become Year 1s (I can hardly believe where the time has gone!) and therefore, so that the children are ready for Year 1 we are doing all we can to make sure their reading is as good as it can be so that they continue to skyrocket with their reading in Year 1. Anyway, enough talk of being in Year 1 lets get back to where we are now - EYFS!
In Maths the children continued to think about capacity. We enjoyed the sunshine and had fun seeing how many small "cupful's" of water would fill a bigger container. We had to make sure that our smaller cup was always full to the top before we poured it into the bigger container.
In Art, we continued to think about repeating patterns. The children used spring themed objects to create a repeating pattern. This time instead of using two colours, they used three objects. As an extra they could use some spring themed stampers to stamp repeating patterns. They really enjoyed doing this and had some great ideas!
We also celebrated St. George's Day and received the 4th and final flag - we should now have the full collection - Scottish, Welsh, Irish and English. Happy St. George's Day everyone!
As we head towards the weekend - we will sign off with just a few of our photos of outdoor learning in the sun - long may this glorious weather continue.
Have a good weekend and see you all on Monday!
