TERM 6 WEEK 4
Who knew on Monday that this week we were going to experience the hottest June day EVER recorded in the UK!
So how did we manage to stay cool whilst in school. It wasn't easy and we certainly slowed things down, drank lots of water and only went outside early in the morning.
Well we had Forest School where we were making mud hedgehogs, spotting hedgehog footprints in the mud, splashing sticks in the pond, climbing trees, using the rope swing, 'fishing' in the mud, hanging around in the hammock and generally exploring the area - take a look.
Mhairi - our Forest School Leader tells me that next Monday is International Mud Day so if there is any mud that has survived this heatwave - we will be in it! How exciting!
We also stayed cool by using the outdoor space as early in the morning as we could, we were also able to stay in the shade thanks to the gazebos.
Betty, Michael-Leigh, Nitro and Rose have taken the next steps in their life cycle and are currently going through their metamorphosis whilst in their chrysalides. As soon as they emerge they will be looking for food - we are ready for this step!
And finally, we felt really cool on Tuesday when we were visited by a real life Mermaid in Show and Tell, who told us all about sea life, from visiting the aquarium in Bristol to whales, octopuses and turtles - do you know the difference between a turtle and a tortoise? This Mermaid does and was able to tell us all about it. Fantastic.
Hope you have all manage to stay safe and cool and have looked after yourselves during this week, taking lots of rest, drinking lots and moving around at a much slower pace - we will see you all on Monday when the usual routines will take place in much lower and more manageable temperatures.
